Since the LED screen at the top was first installed back in 2009 it has counted down from 1000 days to the start of London 2012, and commemorated the Royal wedding and the Diamond Jubilee. A Kensington Palace spokesman said: "We're excited to be sharing news of the royal birth too."
Broadcasters, photographers and journalists have been camped outside the hospital since the start of the month waiting for the Duchess to arrive. A due date for the birth has never been officially confirmed by the Palace, only the month of July was given at the start of the year. The Kate middleton baby will be born at the private Lindo wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London.
