Andrea Antonelli Crash Video: Antonelli dies after Crash in Moscow World Supersport Championship 2013

Andrea Antonelli died - Italian struck by fellow rider after crashing in Moscow race. The Italian rider Andrea Antonelli died after a crash on the opening lap of a World Supersport Championship race at the Moscow Raceway on Sunday.

The Kawasaki Go Eleven rider lost control of his ZX-6R bike in rainy weather, said Tatiana Makhina, a spokeswoman for the Moscow Raceway organisers. The 25-year old came off his bike and was struck by a fellow rider. He was treated by an emergency medical team but died of his injuries at the circuit's medical centre. The race was called off as were the day's headline World Superbike Championship races.

The crash occurred when Antonelli collided with fellow rider and compatriot Lorenzo Zannetti, who Il Messagero points out was "wholly innocent," after Zannetti lost control of his bike. It appears as if Antonelli suffered massive head trauma in the accident.

Video of the crash is below. Fair warning, though it is difficult to make out exactly what happened through the heavy rain, it does show the crash that led to Antonelli's death.
