Summerlicious 2013 recommendations - kicks off Friday

Summerlicious 2013 recommendations,
One of Toronto’s most anticipated culinary events kicks off Friday with nearly 200 restaurants participating in this year’s Summerlicious.

Mayor Rob Ford encourages everyone to try the event which goes until July 21, saying, “It’s fantastic value for diners and great for Toronto’s restaurant industry.”

This summer 196 of the city’s most popular restaurants are participating, such as Momofuku Daisho, Café Boulud and Aria. All  are offering a wide range of cuisine for food lovers with prix fixe lunch and/or dinner menus.

American Express Canada which is sponsoring Summerlicious again this year said its goal is to highlight Toronto’s diverse restaurant industry and give many of the city’s smaller restaurants a chance to shine.

It has been 10 years since Summerlicious, along with its winter version, Winterlicious, began in Toronto. The program has since served nearly four million meals and generated more than $178 million in economic activity, the City of Toronto said.

Diners at this year’s Summerlicious can choose their three-course meal from a prix fixe menu from their restaurant of choice, with prices ranging from $15-$25 for lunch and $25-$45 for dinner.

Participating restaurants began taking reservations on June 20, but many still have space remaining.

Brandon Marshall kneels during the National Anthem of the NFL Season-Opener
